Our Story

The Short Version: We Just Really Like Dessert

Charlie & Danielle, Columbus, OH

Danielle grew up in Denver, Colorado. Charlie's a Columbus, Ohio guy, born and raised. Neither of us planned on starting a bakery together. But somewhere between the running trails, the ski trips, and way too many desserts, here we are, and we would not have it any other way.

We're both active, health-conscious people. Danielle runs, skis, and lifts; Charlie plays basketball, tennis, and lifts too. But "eating clean" was never about salads to us. It's about real, minimally processed ingredients.

For Charlie, that's not just preference. Managing an autoimmune condition means prioritizing organic, nutrient-dense food. That habit followed us straight into the kitchen, where we kept running into the same problem: healthy baked goods that tasted like a compromise.

So we started baking our own. Batch after batch, until we got it right.

And by "got it right," we mean it took a lot of trial and error, a few very sad cookies, and at least one minor smoke alarm incident. We're not professionally trained bakers. We're just two people who really like dessert and got a little stubborn about refusing to settle for a dry, bland "healthy" cookie. Somewhere around batch number who-knows-how-many, we finally landed on a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie that tasted like the real thing, because they are the real thing. Every ingredient organic, nothing fake, nothing missing.

That's how Baked Well started: two people, one kitchen, and a genuine refusal to choose between eating well and eating something you actually crave. We still bake every single order ourselves, by hand, and we plan on keeping it that way even as we grow.
